Evido: Revealed

“It’s like no other feeling… to have the crowd respond on call. When my hands went up, their hands went up.” Eric Palmieri, also known as Evido in the DJ world, used these words to describe his favorite night of the past eight years he has spent pursuing his passion of DJ’ing. That particular night Evido was competing in a DJ battle at Nashville’s own 12th and Porter. From running a Walkman CD player into a 4-track PA system eight years ago, to professionally DJ’ing some of Nashville’s biggest clubs, it’s been a wild ride for Eric Palmieri. What’s the best part? He’s just getting started.

Born in Lafayette, Indianna, Eric became inspired after seeing a DJ at his fifth grade dance. Starting with the most humble of equipment, Eric began exploring the world of dance music. Since many stylistic aspects of dance music were born in Chicago, Evido derived a great deal of his influences from its most prominent DJ’s. For Evido, he wants to be more than just a DJ that hits “play” and hope the crowd responds. True artists know their craft inside and out. Spending hours every week searching for obscure beats and drops puts Evido on the cutting edge. Every song by a true “DJ artist” should have the mark of that DJ, an innovative quality unique to him alone.

People don’t see all the work that goes into every mix: the musical research, the sound preparation, and the stylistic implementation into every song. Evido is teaming up with Adam Franceschini, an audio technician helping in the production aspect of the music, and Marshall Shuttlesworth, another fine gentleman helping with managing the business aspects of the music. The goal would be to land a deal with a label specializing in live dance music. This would provide invaluable resources for pushing his music out to the public. Ultimately Evido wants to be the sole reason someone goes to a club he is performing at: to see the artist performing.

In the end, it’s all about the crowd for Evido; the crowd is what gives him a passion for the music he creates. The rush of adrenaline he gets when the crowd is moved by the music provides the catalyst for his drive. As Evido said,“If I can do what I love, and the crowd loves what I do, I feel that I accomplished my goal.”
