MATTHEW: You are originally from Ireland. What influenced you to move to Nashville?
SIMON: Well, it was my parents decision to move to Nashville around 8 years ago so I had no choice. Probably one of the best decisions we’ve ever made. Theres so much history here as well. Great city!
MATTHEW: What is your musical background?
SIMON: My dad was a touring musician around Ireland so I guess it sort of rubbed off on me. I was completely against doing anything musically related as a kid, but I came to my senses and started playing at around 12. I then began singing and writing at around 18. It’s a great form of expression.
MATTHEW: What is the typical songwriting process for you?
SIMON: I’ll usually write one liners on any piece of paper I can find then piece them all together and I’ll have a song. I honestly have no clue what I’m doing. Great fun though.
MATTHEW: Which songs do you perform most frequently? Do you ever play any covers? Do you have a set play list?
SIMON: I perform my own songs most of the time and if I was to play a cover it would most likely be a Kinks song. Haha. Favorite band of mine!
MATTHEW: Where can we gain access to your music and updates (Myspace, Twitter, Last.fm)?
SIMON: If you’d like to give my music a listen then you can catch me on myspace. myspace.com/simonkerrofficial.
